I've noticed an influx of photography submissions to the Group of late and thought it high time we start a folder to showcase your wonderful cosplay work!

Presenting the Kushiel Cosplay Folder

The reason we're starting a Cosplay folder is so that we can reserve the Photography folder for works which are purposefully staged and processed to be presented as a full composition to be appreciated as a whole piece.  Cosplay, on the other hand, focuses mainly on the costume, clothing, and construction.

That means we'd love to see any costume details, construction shots, or other costume-related photos in this new folder!

I've already moved the submissions I feel suit this folder better.  I hope we'll see more costumes AND more artistic Kushiel-related photography in the Kushiel Photography folder.

And a Challenge...

I'd still like to do a contest, but I haven't been able to finish the sketch prize for the last one! I'm going to host the next one as soon as that is done and things calm down around here.  In the meanwhile, how about a Challenge?

With all the photos of fans dressed as Phedre, I notice everyone defaults to a couple of versions of her marque (mainly by Elegaer, Justira's version, or the cannon book cover's marque).  So my challenge to you is to create your own version of Phedre's marque based on Jacqueline's description:

"With some effort, I recognised the underlying design, which was based on a very old pattern, the briar rose. Somehow Master Tielhard had kept the dramatic vigor of the archaic lines, yet infused them with a subtlety that spoke at once of the vine, the bond and the lash. The thorny lines were stark black, accented in only a few choice hollows with a teardrop of scarlet - a petal, a drop of blood, the mote in my eye."

Let's see some 'fresh blood' for Phedre's marque!  You can submit these images to our Design folder and I'll do a News Feature of all of them at the end of August.  Grind the ink and get your needles ready!
